Here’s another of my day with my journal page… so happy that I am able to finish this page with all the layers and embellishments… the background has been waiting for me for so long… at last… heehehe… I painted the background randomly with acrylic paint… cut out a frame from a chipboard… painted with layers of paint and touched up with Ranger crackle paint… so the frame can’t be seen so much (as usual)… printed the images on transparency… layers the images with all the tags that I can find… can you see that I love birds and nest and eggs alot… they are just so nice to be in art journals… now need to find more birds and nest cliparts for next next next art journal pages…. enjoy!

More photos from trip to Kunming…
Here are more of my pictures during the trip… now you can see I have so much more to scrap and journal… wonder when I can finish… hahaha… meanwhile… let me brew up more of my artworks later… after the field trip with my children out on Friday and training yesterday whole day… i m too tired and lazy to do anything… hehehe… now taking my own sweet time to read children books and listening to children songs… so much i have missed during my childhood…
My very first set of ATCs….
Hey… today i am going to show you pictures of my ever first set of ATCs for swap… theme is ART DOLL ATCs… i have never heard of Artist Trading Cards before I join this very first swap… find ATCs very unique little artpiece to do… and love the ideas of a art doll ATCs… all these dolls are ‘tuckable’… You can keep them within the size of a ATCs and slot into an ATC sleeve… i have only pictures left for me to remember what i have done… They were all traded to different ATC artists around the world… The first one is my favourite! almost reluctant to send it off… it had a shaker body where I placed buttons in it… beads for the legs… Second Art doll’s body taken from a patterned paper (look familiar? hehehe)… sheer covered with lace attached with brads for the hands and the legs… cut out model from magazine… Third art doll… found a old vintage bottle cap for this card… love the outcome… hmmm… i wondered if I could duplicate them again…
Come and join me to make ATCs… it’s fast and fun! I promise! (if you think simple) hehehehe….
Reflection…
Today…just have the urge to do a 12 x 12 scrapbook layout… and now in the end… it looks like another art journal page of mine but… this layout is going to end up in my scrapbook album… hahaha… I can’t seems to go back normal scrapbooking style now… as usual I don’t plan my work… as usual I made alot of mistakes… as usual I covered my mistakes till can’t see (that’s one thing good about painting) hahaha… as usual I used my pictures taken from my Kun Ming trip… as usual I collage my layout… I glued down my patterned papers and picture with my gel medium… as usual I paint with my favourite colors like yellow, olive green, buff titanium, paynes gray and quinacridone nickel azo gold… as usual I used wet tissue to pick up and blend paint… as usual I used my favourite bicycle stamp and a new stamp from tim holtz… the only different from today’s routine is that I restricted myself not to use any paintbrush and use only a palette knife… it’s tough not to use brushes…hahaha… but it’s real fun… good thing is that I only need to clean up one palette knife… yeah…
Simplest pleasure…
Saw this little girl standing next to her mother in the marketplace on the way down from Yuan Yang… enjoying her little breakfast while her mother bargained her way through with the seller… was shy the moment she noticed I took a snapshot of her and hid away from me… love the very moment she examined her little breakfast and enjoying it bit by bit… love a child’s curiosity… love a child’s simplest pleasure like this… I did this page the same way I did to the previous “What’s behind the door” page… more pages to come… meanwhile I have to go back to work again… enjoy!
Sometimes I wonder what’s behind the door…
Took this photo the second day of my trip to KunMing, China… Love this door the very first moment… and I know I would journal this picture… I scraped the paint onto this journal book using a credit card… applied a few layers of paint… and then I used wet wipes to take some paint away… tape some pretty masking tape down onto the base… glued down the photo… highlight the photo with white paint… allow the orange paint to drip down the page… do some stamping with my favourite tree stamp… glued down the bird die cut from K&Co pack (my favourite!)… Love love love the color outcome… so matchy to the photo… I love the mistakes I have done!… hehehe…
No more unfinished project for this year after classes….
Ta Da! Here’s the book I completed till 4am this morning after attending Tradition bookbinding class designed by Sharon Ong (my shifu!) yesterday morning… Proud of me? hahaha….Love her design of this book… but I am too naughty to follow what is to be done in the class (Sorry Teacher Shirley)… hahaha… I enjoyed the class… but I have to be focused on what I wanted for this book.. I wanted to achieve a ‘cheena’ look so the photos taken from my trip to KunMing, China will be used up here…. This little book will be just nice for those photos… This book taught by Shirley Yow used 4 needles to do the coptic bookbinding stitch… I gave up cos I can’t handle so many needles!….. hahaha so I used just one needle to do the normal coptic stitch… don’t worry shifu… I didn’t staple my book…hehehe… I changed a little to the internal part of the book too… too lazy to do the ghost stamping… but used a bit of my ‘cheena’ stamps… Now… I just need to choose some photos and paste them into the book with more embellishments and journal… so happeeeeeeeeee…
Let’s play fabric today…
Meanwhile…while waiting for my inspirations to knock onto my door again… I would like to share my previous art pieces which I did a while ago… these are fabric ATCs… I wrapped and sew a cardboard piece with fabric as my base. These ladies with big pretty hats are images from a piece of fabric too which I have bought from local store. Love this fabric!…. I cut out the lady images from the fabric and glued them down onto a piece of transparency to make it sturdy… As for the base of the ATCs… I painted them with acrylic paint and stamped some images onto the base as some texture…. I did a tape transferred using my patterned papers and then I sew all the objects down and embellished with buttons and fibres… Me had so much fun with these ATCs… Try it and show me!
I left my heart and footprints in these places….
