Let’s get dressed up and party…

Standard

It’s Christmas time! Let’s get dressed up and party all the way to welcome year 2010! I had fun doing this pretty little thing but still can’t decide when it should go. Either in my art journal, a tag, on a altered book, shopping bag, or even a card to be sent off… Still can’t decide now…  so I decided to hang on for a while… but I am eager to show it off to all my friends first… and here you are!

What did I do?

1)  I used American crafts Thicker – Use the mannequin chipboard as the base.

2)  From my stash, I draw out the flowers and ribbons for this pretty little thing.

3)  I stamped and embossed with gold embossing powder on the red paper flower.

4)  Then fold the flowers and start to layer them to form the dress.

5)  For the body, I used ribbons to wrap a few rounds and knot to end.

6)  I distressed with brown ink, add glitter to the center of the flowers.

7)  Add little string of beads to form the necklace.

8)  Finally, you are done with it!

It’s so fun and pretty! Try it…

Listen please!

Love these pages! Hehehe…did these when I was really frustrated that day. What I did to these pages? hmm…. I remember I painted the pages with cream, yellow, orange and a little of brown for the base. I layered different patterned paper strips before the paint. I used rubber stamp to lift up the paint to reveal the paint underneath. Doodle with text using white and black pigment ink pens. I was fast to create these pages. I felt so good during the whole process. Art is so therapeutic! And it cools me down and set me to think better…. hehehe

Show me the way home…

Have been totally exhausted mentally these few weeks. Really need to slow down my pace after so long. Do something I like to do, see something I like to see, listen to something I like to listen, eat something I like to eat, enjoy something I like to enjoy. Doing art journal really feel like back home safely and to my comfort zone. Always thought of going back home as soon as I can after work. To a place I feel safe, peaceful, relax, so much less stress. Hide in my room, playing with my paints, materials and write. I write more now I realised. Write in my journal, some can be seen clearly, some buried in between layers. Seemed like it’s best to confide in my art journal rather than to a friend. It feels less complicated and you won’t fear there’s a chance that you will say things wrongly in a journal. It accepts the way I am and that’s what I am looking for simply. It’s just that simple.

:) so much of a sentimental statement… it’s now to let you know how I did these pages. I found a patterned paper on lighthouse and I glued it down onto my journal before everything. Next, I used finger to apply modelling paste around the journal and stamped image while it’s still wet. Let it dry and then apply distressed ink to highlight the stamped impression. I embellished the pages with corrugated board (from carton), telephone book papers, stamped the bird nest on the storybook paper, cut out images of bird, wings, stamped clock, stamped heart, paper doily, elastic lace ribbon, little text and rub-on stitches. I glimmer mist the background with stencils and smudged the ink. And there you go! Done!

Spread my wings and fly…

I have been playing with lots of glimmermist and anything that can be a stencil lately. Here’s my art journal resulting from my play these few days.  I used paper doily, cut-out butterfly, cut-out circles stencils for this page. Sprayed with different colours of glimmermist. Gesso some portions and paste with pattern papers.  And I used oil pastel crayons to highlight the objects like butterflies, cirlces and pattern papers.  Great class from Dina Wakley for these techniques, loooove it…. Have fun!
